Hi, I’m Max.

I’m an experienced communicator, campaigner, and writer dead-set on building a future I’ll be proud to pass down to the generations to come.

I’m tirelessly optimistic that together, we can create a future where we give more than we take, to the land and to each other—a future of mutual admiration, respect, and abundant opportunity for all.

That’s a lofty vision, and I won’t pretend to have all the answers about how to achieve it. But I’m 100 percent sure of this: It’ll take a lot of people, moving with purpose in the same direction, to get there.

That’s where strategic communications and marketing comes in. As a comms pro, I strive to bring lofty ideas one step closer to the ground. I’m most in my element when I’m identifying the tools people need to take action—and strategizing to put them in their hands. I’m at home uncovering just the right words for just the right story at just the right moment. I like to throw spaghetti at the wall, measure its stickiness, and adjust accordingly.

I write words that move—and build campaigns that move the needle for our environment, climate, and communities.

I took a weird path. Long story short? My childhood dream of becoming a surgeon didn’t pan out, but it did lead me to biology and a fascination for the delicate, mind-bending connectedness of the natural world. Which led me to concern for our climate, which led me to science communication. I picked up a camera. I wrote. I honed my craft as a storyteller, pitching pieces to newspapers and digital outlets, then earning my MFA in creative writing. On the side, as a copywriter for outdoor industry brands, I learned to deploy impactful calls to action and build successful campaigns.

Now, as the comms manager for a Wyoming-based environmental nonprofit, I’m lucky to advocate for the lands, waters, and wildlife right here in my community and backyard.

If you’ve made it all the way here, thanks for reading—and I’d be thrilled to have a conversation.
